A couple of things
Dear USA members,
A couple of issues I would like to address-
- Many of you have called or emailed me about the budget shortfalls that have been announced in the press. We are concerned that there will be budget cuts but we don't know to what extent at this time. What we can all do is contact our legislators and express our concerns over the shortfalls, ask them to invest in public education by fully funding K-Higher Ed, and to let them know that we believe in progressive taxes where everyone pays their fair share.
- We have also been advised by the University that they plan to eliminate pay statements in early June, we have not agreed to anything and I am awaiting a legal opinion from our legal counsel to see if they have the right to implement this action.
- Funding our contracts, we have been lobbying to get this contract funded and a group of us will be meeting with the Governor to talk to him about this issue on April 27th (we will report out from this meeting).
- We hear everyday that the economy is picking up and I hope this is true but for now there is so much unknown. I will try to keep you as informed as I can and feel free to contact me should you have any questions.
- On a ldifferent note I would like to remind all of you that can to use the services provided by Print Services so we can keep our brothers and sisters working and try to get them back to full time.
- I recently used the UHS Optical Services and I highly recommend that we use these services for the same reason. Let's frequent the services we can to keep our brothers and sisters working.
- Stay tuned for more updates as information becomes available.
In solidarity,
Donna Johnson
President USA

I don't understand, what are pay statements and why are they being "eliminated?" Can someone please explain?
PS. I also went to UHS Optical Services and highly recommend them. They give great customer service, and have an awesome selection of glasses. :)
