Union members from across campus gathered yesterday in the Cape Cod Lounge for an ALL-UNION MEETING to discuss an action against the University of Massachusetts system, which has failed to offer higher education workers the same contract offered to other state employees. UMass labor voted to demand that the UMass President's office and the UMass Board of Trustees extend a commensurate contract offer, and resolved to begin a letter writing campaign to UMass President Robert Carat to express their dissatisfaction with being slighted by UMass and the state government, neither of which appear willing to honor the trigger clause for six months of retroactive pay in the existing contract, yet have not provided an alternative. Write your own letter to Robert Carat expressing how you feel about not being offered the same contract as other state employees!
