Elizabeth "Claire" O'Neil Allis

Elizabeth ''Claire'' (O'Neil) Allis, 77,  passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday (3-9-09) at home.

She was born in Ware on Nov. 29, 1931, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Murphy) O'Neil. She was a graduate of Greenfield High School, Class of 1949. She had been a resident of Montague Center most of her life.

Claire was a kitchen worker for the University of Massachusetts at Amherst for many years, retiring in 1997.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church in Turners Falls.

Claire was an avid reader and enjoyed bingo, knitting, crocheting and square dancing and motorcycling with her late husband, Raymond F. Allis, who predeceased her on June 7, 2000.

Survivors include a son, Edward G. Allis, and a daughter, Ruth E. Allis, both of Montague Center; a sister, Grace Pratt of Greenfield, and several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
