USA Blog > Land Value Taxation Talk

So I'm looking for feedback from people who attended the talk last Wednesday by Al Hartheimer about Land Value Taxation. What was really intriguing...where are there still questions? Are any of you interested in pursuing this further?

A question: if this is such a great idea, why is the legislature not on board with it? I'm suspicious of the cavalier attitude about people who own land and that they should pay the highest taxes. It was suggested that we talk with people in PA who use this tax system, which I plan to do. But I wonder if that is an area where many people own rural property. My concern is for people who are retired--what happens if they want to keep property in the family but can't afford to pay new higher taxes.

Overall, the land tax system seems like a viable idea, but I would want it to be studied carefully before implementing it.

Me too Sylvia...I got a contact from Max Page that I intend to follow up on.... you on for a road trip? I just haven't had a minute to sit down and think about this...thought summers were supposed to be slow!

If the road trip is to PA, probably not anytime soon. I've got precious little vacation time after the spring's activities with R. in the hospital. I'd be up for a conference call though, and would be interested in any website information that can be found.
