USA Blog > Re: [USA] Corporatism highlighted in Speech by Michael Prysner, Iraq War Verteren

I'm as concerned about the danger of big money, corporations as most of us are. But I found this video disturbing as it portrayed President Obama as one of the Corporate Money people and I do not believe that to be true. It also ties him to the Iraq war and I don't think that's an accurate portrayal either.

The soldier was obviously very impassioned and I welcome hearing his experience. The background pictures were inflammatory and added words to this soldier that he did not say. It's the same kind of propaganda the right has been using for a long time. It's not helpful.

I read a book a few years back by Walter Wink called Engaging the Powers and there's a great chapter in it called not becoming the thing you hate. He told of an old story that whenever good people engage evil, the angels hold their breath. They do this because there's no way you can engage evil without something of it getting on you. The angels hold their breath because they are waiting to see what seed of evil will sprout in the "good guys" from the encounter.

The video would have been far more powerful and accurate if it had just been the young man speaking his own truth as it applied to himself.
